Packaged Press Desktop Edition starts by displaying a window with an empty "virtual rack".

This menu item creates and displays a new "virtual rack".

Open...

This menu item selects an XProc pipeline document and loads it into a new window.

Save Log...

Select a file to save the pipeline log into.

Show Log

Reveal the log pane.

Hide the log pane.

Displays information about the application.

Evaluate Pipeline

Press the pipeline's "power button" to start evaluating the pipeline.

Depending on the pipeline, each step will be evaluated in order. As a step is evaluated, its "active" LED will light up in green.

If a step requires an XML document then a dialog box appears for you to choose the document to use. The name of the port for the document appears in the dialog box.

Once a document has been chosen for a port, then that port is "armed". When the pipeline is subsequently re-run the same document will be used.

If you wish to re-run the pipeline with a different document for a port, then press the reset button on that port.

When a step produces an output document then a dialog box appears for you to choose where the save the document.

If a step emits messages during its evaluation then that step's active LED will blink yellow. Click on the blinking LED to view the messages.

Clicking on the "Copy" button copies the messages to the clipboard.

Clicking on the "Save" button allows you to save the messages to a file.
